Academically, a post-graduate in Electronics and Communication Engineering (M.E., B.Tech) from
Indian Institute of Engineering, Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpore, West Bengal,
Debanjan Bhattacharjee is a full time Indian Classical Sarod artiste from Kolkata.
He is the disciple of Ustad Aashish Khan, Late Ustad Dhyanesh Khan & Late Vidushi Ameena Perera of Maihar Senia Gharana. He has also participated in various workshops
conducted by the legendary Late Ustad Ali Akbar Khansahab.
Debanjan has gained worldwide popularity for his brainchild and humble initiative –
“Dhrupad Sarod”, which he had the rare honour to perform recently in front of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi-ji at Hyderabad House, New Delhi.
Debanjan has won the coveted President of India’s Gold Medal Award in 2008.
Debanjan has International performances in 18 Countries & has also performed solo
nationally in 65 Indian Cities across 24 States.
Debanjan is one of the youngest Cultural Diplomats to represent India in the biggest Latin
American Festival – Cervantino 2015, upon invitation from Govt. of India and also at the United Nations Congress in 2013.
Nationally, Debanjan has performed all over India in prestigious music festivals like Dover
Lane Music Conference, Sawai Gandharv Samaroh, Swara Samrat Festival, Prayag
Sammelan, Taj Mahotsav, Dhrupad Mela, Rajya Sangeet Sammelan, Baba Allauddin
Khan Samaroh etc.
Debanjan has also performed abroad in USA, Germany, Mexico, Canada, France, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Turkey, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Singapore, Bangladesh.
He is a nominated artiste for the prestigious GIMA Awards 2012 for the Best Classical Album alongside Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Ust. Shujaat Khan, Pt. Ronu Majumdar.
He is also an empanelled artiste of Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR),
Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India.
Debanjan is a graded artiste of All India Radio & Doordarshan.
